The Daily Vroom
Good Morning Vroomers,
After digging into your thoughts on BaT last month, today we’re shifting the spotlight to Cars & Bids.
Cars & Bids has spent the last year quietly reshaping itself. Pre-1981 cars are now welcome. Live events are on the calendar (finally, something we’ve been begging for). And the platform seems to be stepping out of the Doug DeMuro show and into its own brand voice.
They’re not BaT, and shouldn’t try to be. The real play is doing what they do best: younger buyers, great enthusiast cars, clean UX, and now… getting people together in real life.
We also couldn’t publish a newsletter without at least one listing to share and what better than a very very special Cars & Bids style wagon.
So, how does Cars & Bids feel to you right now?
A Tri-Turbo BMW Wagon You Won’t Find Anywhere Else
Since we’re all about Cars & Bids today, here’s a wagon you won’t see anywhere else.
Montego Blue E91. Custom orange cabin. Built to drive, not to stare at. The seller dropped an M57 diesel in it, added a third turbo, switched to the ZF 8-speed, and converted it to rear-wheel drive with proper suspension and brakes. The look is tight. The details read OEM+. It feels like a factory fantasy that slipped out the back door.
It’s fast in the way only a big-torque diesel wagon can be. The dyno shows real numbers. Inside it’s calm enough for a commute. Outside it sounds like a jet on takeoff. Photographs are top tier and the listing does the work. You can see the thought in every choice.
There’s real seller confidence here. Long build history. Clear answers in the comments. Even the one quirk is on the table: once in a while it won’t go into reverse until you restart. That’s how you want a hot build presented. No mystery. No fluff.
This is the kind of car that fits Cars & Bids at its best. Modern enough to use daily. Wild enough to feel special. If you’ve been waiting for a one-of-one longroof that can do Costco and chaos in the same afternoon, this is the one.
