Greetings Vroomers on this delightful Tuesday,

Yesterday was indeed a thrilling day in the world of online car auctions. Over $6m worth of cars found new owners yesterday, proving that the online auction scene is no fleeting trend.

We had one auction that reached an impasse, failing to sell despite a staggering bid of $999,999, while another broke the $1m ceiling! Who needs traditional brick-and-mortar auction houses when online platforms can sell million-dollar cars?

READER INPUT

A big thank you goes out to Steve M. for reaching out to me and bringing this to my attention. Yesterday, an additional $10,000 bid was placed by a participant on Bring A Trailer, as depicted in the screenshot below.

Remarkably, within a mere 3 minutes, the moderator swiftly responded by removing the bid and kindly requesting the bidder to submit a new one. This prompt action was highly appreciated by both the bidder and the entire community. Considering the numerous auctions on BaT, it can be quite challenging for moderators to stay on top of everything. Therefore, kudos to them for a job well done.

NEARLY SALE OF THE DAY

A Hair's Breadth from the Win: The 2019 Ford GT Carbon Series

Let's dive into a recent near-miss in the car auction world with the much-loved 2019 Ford GT Carbon Series. We're talking about a lightweight beast, boasting a Twin-Turbo 3.5L EcoBoost V6 engine, and dressed to impress in a Liquid Grey Tri-Coat finish. It's basically an exhibit of auto-engineering art.

The Auction Scenario

So, this virtually untouched GT (260 miles – can you believe it?) made its way to the auction platform Bring a Trailer (BaT). The bid was a nail-biter, teetering at the edge of a cool million. Final score? $999,999. Yes, just one measly dollar shy of seven figures!

The Plot Twist

Here's the catch – the car didn't sell. You might think, "Hey, it was just a dollar off a million, couldn't BaT pitch in?" Seems like a logical solution, but apparently, the seller was playing a higher stakes game. They must've had a higher figure in mind that a couple of spare changes couldn't reach.

Bidding World Lessons

This entertaining episode from the auction world brings a lesson. The bidding wars, close shaves, and sudden plot twists – they all add up to the thrill that makes car auctions so irresistible. Even though the GT didn't find a new home, it still managed to take us on a thrilling ride. Let’s take a look below to see the real world trends on this 2019 GT to see if the seller should have accepted or not!

Analyzing Current Market Trends

Upon examining the recent sale trends for this model, we can infer that the bidding came tantalizingly close to the current market value. If you take a glance at the records from physical auction houses, you'll notice a consistent pricing around the $1 million ballpark for this model. Interestingly, this is a dip of about $200,000 compared to four months prior.

The Seller's Standpoint

From the looks of it, the seller had a specific figure etched in mind, and the bids fell just short. If negotiations with the highest bidder don't pan out offline, it might be in the seller's best interest to bide their time. The strategy could be to lay low, let the car appreciate, and then re-emerge for a grand comeback in the auction ring in 2024.

SALE OF THE DAY

A Classic Jewel Finds A New Home

If there ever was a car that could make grown-ups weak in the knees, it has to be the 1961 Maserati 5000 GT Indianapolis Coupe by Allemano. This stunning specimen just found a new home today for a cool $1,030,000, sold by Bring A Trailer.

Vintage Power

This isn't just any Maserati. This is one of 34 of its kind ever built, and the very first Allemano Coupe ever crafted. Its beating heart? A 4,941cc Quad-Cam V8 under the hood, purring like a lion and roaring like a dragon when let loose.

Sleek Beauty

Decked out in Grigio Montebello paint, with fiery red leather upholstery, it's more than a car; it's a masterpiece of Italian design. Its 16" Bi-Metal wheels glint under the sun, offering a hint of the thrill that awaits anyone lucky enough to sit behind its two-spoke steering wheel.

History on Four Wheels ️

The car's journey is as extraordinary as its construction. Sold new to a Pittsburgh industrialist who took a European joyride before shipping it to the U.S., it's had a string of owners, each one adding a bit to its storied history. Even the Shah of Iran couldn't resist its allure, inspiring the creation of the 5000 GT model.

Restoration to Glory

Refurbished in the early 2000s, the car retains its original glory and then some. After being showcased at the Maserati 100 exhibition at the Museo Enzo Ferrari in Modena, Italy, it went on to bag two awards at the 2017 Cavallino Classic.

Future Adventures ️

Today, this magnificent machine rests at its new home. What future adventures await this timeless beauty? Only time will tell. But one thing is for sure, it's a sight to behold and a joy to drive.

So here's to the classic cars of yesteryears, still making hearts race today. And especially to the new owner of this fantastic 1961 Maserati 5000 GT Indianapolis Coupe by Allemano – may your journeys be as exhilarating as the car you drive!

This model is powered by an impressive 4.0-liter V8 engine pushing out 414 horsepower, and its smooth 6-speed manual transmission is an absolute delight for purists like me.

What truly sets this car apart is its unique marriage of aggressive design with plush, high-end interiors. Its carbon fiber roof, which lowers the center of gravity for better handling, serves as a reminder of BMW's ingenious engineering and thoughtful aesthetics.

But here's the clincher: the 2008 M3 Coupe is an auction favorite. And why wouldn't it be? Its timeless appeal, top-notch performance, and rarity in the used car market make it a hot commodity. It is one of those models that has a magic combination of luxury, performance, and style, making it highly sought after on auction platforms. Its appeal to both driving enthusiasts and collectors ensures a vibrant and competitive market, often leading to exciting auction results.
