NEARLY SOLD CARS
1989 Mercedes-Benz (R107) 420 SL

Final bid £15,500 – Collecting Cars
Key Facts
This is a handsome modern classic grand tourer, accompanied by a removable body-coloured hard top. Under the bonnet, you'll find a naturally aspirated 4.2-litre V8, driving the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission. The gearbox was serviced at 115,237 miles, and several minor cosmetic and mechanical issues have been attended to.
Exterior
The 420 SL is finished in Arctic White with a colour-coded removable hard top and black soft top. It rides on a set of 15-inch flat-faced alloy wheels, shod with Michelin tyres. The exterior is in good condition, with only a few small blemishes on the offside lower wing.
Interior ️

The cabin is trimmed in black MB-Tex, punctuated by burr walnut inlays. The specification includes electric front windows, optional rear seats, and a Sony stereo with a boot-mounted 10CD autochanger.
Service History
A full service was performed in March 2021 at 115,237 miles by Aesir Automotive. The gearbox was also serviced, and various repairs were made. Prior to this, services were performed in May 2020 at 114,282 miles by N.R. Bates & Son, and in January 2006 at 105,932 miles by a Mercedes-Benz approved service centre.

Why It Didn't Sell ❓
While this car is a stylish example of the desirable R107-generation Mercedes 420 SL, it didn't sell, with the highest bid reaching £15,500.
One possible reason could be that bidders were asking the seller questions in the comments section about the chassis number, but the seller couldn't answer as he said he's not home till later!!
This is basic 101 for sellers – be near your car on the day of the auction ending!!!

FERRARI MANIA

Ferrari Mania Takes Over the Auction Block!
Yesterday was nothing short of a red-letter day in the world of car auctions, with not one, not two, but seven Ferraris going under the hammer across various platforms! It was a veritable Ferrari fiesta, a prancing horse parade, a… well, you get the idea.
Now, I've heard of "seeing red" but this was something else entirely! It was as if every auction platform simultaneously decided it was time to let the stallions out of the stable. And boy, did they run! ️
Why the sudden surge in Ferrari sales, you ask? Well, it could be down to the warmer weather – nothing quite says "summer" like cruising down the highway in a top-down Ferrari, feeling the wind in your hair. Or perhaps it's the allure of the brand's rich racing heritage, a siren call to car enthusiasts around the globe.
But between you and me, I think it's because everyone's finally realized what I've known all along – life's too short to drive boring cars. And let's face it, there's nothing quite like a Ferrari.
Now, let's dive into the details of two particularly eye-catching sales from yesterday's Ferrari frenzy…

Head to Head The F430 Spider is a modern beast with a roaring V8 and a luxurious interior. But the 250 GT Ellena Coupe? She's a timeless classic, a testament to Ferrari's rich history. Both are true beauties in their own right, and they've certainly fetched a pretty penny at the auction!
My Two Cents Now, if you ask me, there's something about that '58 Ferrari that just gets my engine revving. Maybe it's the classic lines, or the purr of that overbored V12. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't kick the F430 Spider out of the garage for leaking oil, but if I had to choose, I'd be cruising in that Ellena Coupe, wind in my hair, feeling like a star from a bygone era. ️
