The Daily Vroom

Good morning, Vroomers!
Today, I'm keeping the commentary brief and letting the data do the talking. I've got some illuminating visuals to share that highlight the upcoming numbers for each platform this week, as well as a recap of last week's sales figures. But that's not all. I've delved deeper into last week's data to extract some key insights and trends that you might find interesting. So, let's dive right in and see what the numbers have to say!

LISTINGS THIS WEEK
Ready for the latest updates in our weekly chart? We've got some first-time achievements and impressive moves this week. Bring A Trailer is stepping up their game and now hosts over 100 auctions each day from Monday to Saturday – a first in their history. Meanwhile, Car & Classic is leading the pack in the UK, showcasing an increased number of listings this week and securing the number two spot in the entire market.

If you don’t see your favorite site in the table above, it’s because their listing numbers are extremely low.

SALES LAST WEEK

As I predicted last week, the sales volume has seen an increase across nearly all the major websites. You can revisit the sales numbers from the week before here. Based on the listing numbers I've seen and after carefully analyzing the cars up for auction, I'm predicting that the overall sales numbers will climb again this week. However, interestingly, I anticipate that 2/3 of the sites listed above will actually sell fewer cars.
When we turn our attention to the value of cars sold, last week's figures surpassed the previous week with over $38 million worth of cars finding new owners. The crown jewel of last week's sales was the 1961 Maserati 5000 GT Indianapolis Coupe, which fetched just over $1 million. The next highest sale was a 2016 Porsche 911 R, which sold for $455,000.

SALES LAST WEEK

In my analysis of last week's online car auctions, I’ve identified the most popular car makes and models that were sold. The popularity is based on the frequency of sales for each make and model.
Among the car makes, the top five most frequently sold were Porsche, Ferrari, Chevrolet, Ford, and Mercedes-Benz. Among these, Porsche led the pack with the highest average sale price, indicating a strong demand for this make among the auction participants. This was followed by Ferrari, Chevrolet, Ford, and Mercedes-Benz, showcasing a mix of American and European car manufacturers in the top five. Yet again the 911 was the most popular model sold- who can take it’s crown this week?

The chart below has always been a fan favorite and illustrates the most popular day for car sales last week. While Friday was the frontrunner in the previous week, it's interesting to see that Thursday took the lead in the last week. It makes one wonder – will the trend continue and make Wednesday the most popular day for car sales next week ?

Last week, I received an intriguing question from a reader: Does "Bring A Trailer" sell more manual or automatic transmission cars? I found this question quite interesting, simply because I didn’t know the answer! I therefore decided to dive deep into the data to find the answer. So, I ventured down this data-driven rabbit hole, and here's what I discovered.

These initial results provide a solid foundation not just for me, but I'm sure for you as well. However, as regular readers of The Daily Vroom will know, I am all about diving beneath the surface and delving into the deeper layers of the data. I believe that the real insights often lie in the details that are not immediately obvious. Therefore, I've taken this analysis a step further. Below, you'll find a detailed breakdown of the transmission types for each model within the top 5 makes. Let's take a closer look!

As I continue to explore the treasure trove of data from "Bring A Trailer", I thought it would be interesting to share some additional insights. In particular, I have analyzed the average sale price for the top 5 makes from last week's auctions.
