The Daily Vroom

Hey Vroomers!

Iโ€™ve been promising an exclusive interview with you all. And today is the day.

Weโ€™re thrilled to bring you our very first โ€˜podcastโ€™, and itโ€™s a knockout. In this premiere episode, we sit down with none other than Matt, better known as 911r, one of the most successful sellers on Bring a Trailer. How successful? Try nearly $100 million worth of vehicles sold. That's rightโ€”heโ€™s a living legend in the online car auction world.

I was all set to transcribe this interview, but then it hit me: Matt's insights are just too good, too rich with industry gold, to be flattened into text. So instead, weโ€™re bringing you this unfiltered, first-of-its-kind podcast episode thatโ€™s bound to become a classic.

Whatโ€™s in Store?
Matt holds nothing back as he takes us on a journey through:

  • How he got started and built his automotive empire

  • Insider tricks of the trade and the strategies that have kept him on top

  • A riveting comparison between live physical auctions and the online auction scene

  • What he thinks of the โ€˜newโ€™ BaT make an offer feature

  • What drove him to relocate to Scottsdale and how itโ€™s impacted his business

  • Predictions for where the collector car market is headed

  • Which cars are hot right now and the trends you need to watch

โ€ฆand so much more.

Get comfortable, because this isnโ€™t just an interviewโ€”itโ€™s an unmissable masterclass from one of the best in the business. Tune in, learn, and get inspired by the legend himself!

Appreciate your perspective and the insight Karl into your collectionโ€”that's a great lineup! I totally get where youโ€™re coming from. The Rivian R1T is certainly breaking the mold when it comes to EVs appealing to enthusiasts. The combination of performance and thoughtful design gives it more soul than your typical 'appliance.' And hey, if it's holding its own next to a 570S, that's saying something! Thanks for sharing, and glad to have you as part of The Daily Vroom community.

Great conversation! Agree with almost all of what Matt said, especially about how important presentation and being an engaged seller is, and the difference between a known, frequent seller on BaT compared to an individual.

I don't agree about his comment about electric cars completely, though. I do agree that most Teslas are purchased as appliances, but I can assure you that we bought our Rivian R1T because it's a great enthusiast vehicle. We're car people and our collection has interesting analog vintage cars and modern performance cars. The R1T accelerates as quickly as our 570S and the interior is just as well-designed and put together, if not more so.

That said, we certainly expect it to depreciate like a normal car. It's not an investment. But that doesn't necessarily mean it's an appliance.

My $0.02. Thanks for all you do with the Daily Vroom!
