MARKET LEADERBOARD

The figures shared below account only for auction-time sales. Any post-auction deals (nice hustle!) aren't included in our weekly total. I also don’t count any other sales such as car seats, memorabilia etc..

I only include websites that have sold 5+ cars in the chart below.

Yesterday, 150+ cars were sold. However, only the top three sites on the leaderboard truly shone, leaving the others in their shadow. The smaller players evidently have a steep hill to climb. The general consensus? "There's room to grow." In total, cars worth $5.2 million changed hands. Of this, a whopping $3.5 million belonged to Bring A Trailer. Following closely was Cars & Bids, with sales totaling $643K.

Top Five Sales Of The Day

1989 Lamborghini Countach 25th Anniversary:

  • Why It Matters: This car is a representation of a golden era of supercars. Its design is iconic and has been a poster car for many enthusiasts. The 25th Anniversary edition is a tribute to Lamborghini's history, making it a prized possession for collectors.

  • Fun fact:A white identical model sold one week previously for $670,000 with 2K less miles.

2018 McLaren 720S Performance Coupe Launch Edition:

  • Why It Matters: McLaren's 720S is already a modern supercar icon. As a "Launch Edition", it was among the first off the production line, signifying its rarity and desirability.

1992 Lamborghini Diablo:

  • Why It Matters: Following the Countach, the Diablo continued Lamborghini's legacy of producing jaw-dropping supercars. Its 90’s charm and the brand's pedigree make it a significant sale.

2016 Porsche 911 GT3 RS:

  • Why It Matters: The 911 GT3 RS models are revered in the automotive world for their track-focused performance. Their limited production numbers and racing pedigree make them sought-after collector items.

2022 GMC Hummer EV Pickup Edition 1:

  • Why It Matters: The resurgence of the Hummer brand as an EV speaks volumes about the automotive industry's direction. This sale is a testament to the market's growing acceptance and value attached to high-performance electric vehicles.

The 2024 Acura Integra Type S Saga: Love, Hate, & Dollar Signs

There's a storm brewing in the automotive world, and at the center of it is the 2024 Acura Integra Type S. For many, it's a euphoric drive that delivers more than its specs hint at. For others? They see it as a costly blip that's dragged the Integra's reputation through the mud. But it's a wonder how most of the naysayers haven't even taken it for a spin.

An Auctioneer's Dream: The Apex Blue Pearl Beauty  Now, here's the kicker: over at Cars & Bids, a barely-driven 2024 Integra Type S, swathed in Apex Blue Pearl, is causing a stir. The insides? Drenched in Orchid luxury. With a mere 500 miles to its name, this car's still got that new car smell. The reason it's up for grabs? Some "family issues," so claims the seller. Eyebrows raised? Absolutely. But this probably isn't the last we'll see of such pristine Integra’s making auction headlines.

The Bidding War Begins  The curious part is the demand – it's undeniable and skyrocketing. With bids brushing up against its base price, it's evident this car is more than just a pretty face (and engine). Unless our seller faced the notorious dealer markup, they might be pocketing a pretty penny. MSRP is around $51K and current bid at time of writing is $49,500.

What's Next for the Integra? ️ So, where's this auction headed, $70k?? The suspense could cut glass. But if there's one prediction to stake on: with such tantalizing returns and barely any miles clocked, more Type S owners might see green (if you can get one) instead of asphalt. In the intricate dance of passion and profit, it's a bittersweet symphony in the world of cars.

Frantic Bidding Wars: A Tale of Two Lamborghini Countach’s

The Showdown: Two 1989 Lamborghini Countach 25th Anniversary models went under the hammer in separate online auctions, both ending yesterday. One emerged victorious, selling for a noteworthy $632,000, while the other faced a different fate, failing to meet its reserve price and remain unsold.

 The Champion: Sold for $632,000

Details:

  • Model: 1989 Lamborghini Countach 25th Anniversary

  • Mileage: 9,400 kilometers (~6,000 miles)

  • Color: Black exterior with beige leather upholstery

  • Features: Scissor doors, European-market front bumper, multi-piece 15” OZ Racing wheels, Alpine stereo, electronic climate control, power-operated windows and seats, gated shifter.

  • Maintenance: Overhauled brake system, new tires, battery, and boot struts.

Opinion: The winning bidder recognized the value of this well-maintained, low-mileage Countach. Its comprehensive maintenance and documented history likely instilled confidence in its condition. The rarity of the 25th Anniversary model and the iconic status of the Countach contributed to the intense bidding war, ultimately leading to a successful sale. With potential for future appreciation, this Countach could prove to be a solid investment.

 The Underdog: Unsold

Details:

  • Model: 1989 Lamborghini Countach 25th Anniversary

  • Mileage: Approximately 22,800 miles

  • Color: Nero (black) exterior with black interior

  • Modifications: European-market front bumper, tinted windows, Alpine CD player.

  • Accident History: Noted accident in 1998, European-market front bumper installed for repair.

Opinion: The unsold Countach faced a different set of challenges. While it shared the iconic Countach appeal, its accident history and modifications might have raised concerns for potential buyers. The accident and the subsequent repairs, including the European-market front bumper, could have impacted the car's originality and collector appeal. Additionally, the higher mileage could have signaled more wear and tear, potentially influencing buyers' decisions to bid.

 Auction Timing and Platform:

Both auctions ended at very similar times on different platforms. However, the final results diverged significantly. The successful sale could be attributed to the car's pristine condition, low mileage, detailed maintenance, and originality, which resonated with collectors. The unsold Countach faced challenges due to its accident history, modifications, and comparatively higher mileage, potentially affecting its market desirability.

Cars & Bids Hustle: As always, Cars & Bids will be hustling hard to try and get a deal done after the auction. In this case, with the highest bid being $342,000, there probably is some way to go before a compromise can be reached.

UPCOMING NO RESERVE AUCTIONS

Today's collection of cars is thoughtfully selected with you in mind as I’ve had many requests to share more no reserve auctions from across different platforms.
